In the interests of making the production process more accessible to our users, we have decided to make available the development sketches from our Art Department. The creative design phase is one of the most fun and fascinating parts of film production, as all parties involved get to watch the characters be taken from the nebulous fog of imagination to reality on paper.

Sometimes an artist will nail a character on the first try, but more frequently it happens that an artist's initial concept won't be quite what the director imagined--but have a detail that the director didn't even think of and now can't imagine the character without. Multiply this process across several different artists doing several different sketches, with the director refining them (i.e., picking parts to keep and parts to discard)--and eventually you come up with a composite that is the final concept and will be incorporated into the film. We bring you that process. More drawings will be posted as they become available.

Click the character names in the menu to the right to view the sketches...

Use the Forum!
Maybe simply viewing the drawings isn't enough for you. Maybe you want to get involved. Great! We welcome user involvement! We want to give our audience an opportunity to get involved in the production of the film.

If you want to make suggestions or submit production design art of your own, become a registered member and visit our discussion forum. There you can collaborate with the SoL Production Team and other fan-artists such as yourself.

For now, this section of the site will be used to post submissions made by contributors to our Forum. Almost since the moment the site has been up we have been receiving drawings from our contributors. We encourage artistically-minded forumers to submit drawings because you never know -- you might just end doing the "perfect" concept drawing of a given character!
