This site is dedicated to the feasibility of developing, financing, producing and distributing a feature film aimed at the "geek" market. The themes of H.P. Lovecraft are echoed in “Summer of Lovecraft”, a feature-length sci-fi/horror film that explores (and satirizes) rebellion, rural dystopia, intolerance, atavistic guilt, the inevitability of fate and the arrogance of humanity. The screenplay is based in part on the works of H.P. Lovecraft and in part on the lives of its authors. The intent is to produce an feature film and series of comics based on the characters and situations in the screenplay. This website is here to prove to the people with the money that project has 'legs'. "Summer of Lovecraft" has been shopped around to several different studios, investors & distribution companies, all of whom have shown interest... but none has ponied up the cash so far. Problem is, none of them seem to think there's a market out there for a film like this. We're here to prove them wrong. If we prove there's a market, they'll invest, plain & simple.
The suits seems to think there's no money in the geek market. To this we say "Bullshit! What about stores like Suncoast? Hot Topic? Games Workshop? Not to mention your local game store? How long has 'Call of Cthulhu' been in print? How many comics and gaming conventions are held every year?" The fact is, not only is there a geek market, it's huge and more mainstream than they ever dreamed!"
Frankly, we're sick of Hollywood's anti-geek discrimination. We're sick of slick, overproduced crap that underestimates its audience. We want stuff that's kooky and fun and scary and smart--all at the same time! We want more movies like "Napoleon Dynamite" and "Clerks" and "Shaun of the Dead"! If those movies have an audience, so do we. If they can make money, so can "Summer of Lovecraft"!

Damn skippy. Most of us do. Not many people get the experience of making one or even having a part in getting one made.
Well, that's simple. The more people register, the more proof we have of a viable market for this film, hence we get funded. If we get funded, the movie gets made. If it gets distributed it means you get to go see it, secure in the knowledge you did your part in getting the film made. Plus you get a credit! You can show all your friends incontrovertible proof that you had a part in helping get this movie made.
