Shelley is an average small town lifer. She’s cute, not beautiful, but cute goes a long way in Garterville.  She defines herself by her relationship with the men in her life.  She’s not particularly bright, but she’s affectionate and perceptive.  She loves Jake deeply and dreams of marrying him, but as she’s grown up she’s come to realize it’s likely to remain a dream instead of become a reality.

Shelley first met Jake when he was a senior in high school and she was a junior.  She liked Jake immediately—he was something different, something beautiful in her world of sameness.  She sees the incredible potential lying in Jake, which is what has compelled her to remain in his orbit for so long. Shelley wants out, but she's torn. She doesn't want to go back to her folks' trailer, but she doesn't want to deal with Connor's increasing choler. She just wants to be with Jake. If only she could get him to straighten up and ditch those loser friends of his...

Appearance
Shelley is cute, blonde and slightly pudgy in a borderline white-trash sort of way. Her style is straight out of 1977: Farrah hair, tube top and hotpants. She also has a tattoo of a heart and entwined thorns on the small of her back.
