Garterville is a sleepy little town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.  Its residents live quiet, unassuming lives; they go to work, go to church and raise their children alongside their fellow God-fearing neighbors.  It’s just the sort of town that rebellious youths love to hate…youths like Jake Riley and Finegan Marsh.

Jake and Finegan are bored.  They’re angry.  And worst of all, they don’t fit in.  Their intelligence, their passion for literature and geeky pastimes sets them apart from their peers.  This lack of acceptance has driven them to pranks and vandalism so as to “wake up” the sleepy little town they call home. The best part is they’re smart enough to get away with it.  Idle hands truly are the Devil’s playthings, especially in the cases of Jake Riley and Finegan Marsh.

Little does anyone know Garterville harbors a dark secret.  In the heart of the mountain beneath the town slumbers an ancient and terrible evil, older than life on Earth.  Its influence has percolated upward, corrupting the town above.  Garterville may appear bucolic on the outside, but its heart is rotten.  Its power structures are corrupt and its citizens intolerant of anything outside the norm.

Now an agent of ultimate cosmic evil wishes to awaken the entity she calls “God”—and thus bring civilization to a cataclysmic end.  This sleepy little town is about to descend into nightmare.

Garterville doesn’t know what’s about to hit it.
